CALIFLUX sensor

Back in 2018 NATO adopted a new Fast Heating test standard (AOP4240) which introduces an alternative procedure that utilises a gas-fuelled heating source. The standard requires a minimum net absorbed heat flux of 80 kW/m² to be demonstrated. The IMEMG FCO expert working group have worked on the definition of a simple calibration tool (CALIFLUX) to demonstrate the net absorbed heat flux. The device works as a thermal capacitance and consists of a small steel cylinder with known physical properties, equipped with a thermocouple.
