Programme

IMEMG presents the 1st European IM DAY.

Conference was held on May 2009 at the Albert Hall Complex, Brussels, Belgium.

About IM/MURAT

The generalisation of allied military operations implies a heavy concentration of means and requires thorough co-operation from the various operational units:

  • Logistics suitable points for transports (harbours, airports, train stations ,…)
  • Air bases with substantial stores of ammunition
  • Surface ships packed with ammunition
  • And concentration in hostile territory

Such concentrations of means make ideal targets and, in particular, non-IM stockpiles represent a substantial risk for personnel, nearby combat platforms and property.

IM which are developed and manufactured under common requirements will increase confidence
in each partner’s munitions and are a necessity for interoperability

IM are currently available and some are in service: regular tests and analyses demonstrate their capabilities under the most severe conditions.

Theme of the symposium :

Delivering Mission Critical, Innovative Insensitive Munitions and Energetic Materials Solutions to the Warfighter in a Challenging Budget Environment.

Co-organisation: NDIA and MSIAC

Presentation

New IM technologies, EM and formulations are being deployed into the field.  This symposium will look at the benefits of these new solutions on the warfighter, logistics, cost and safety of operations.  The 2013 IM and EM Technology Symposium is the premier international gathering for the exchange of information on advancements in IM and EM and their benefits in theater.

Tests and demonstrations

IMEMG carries out studies, technical reports, tests and actions making the adoption of IM easier. Such studies and publications gather the most updated position of authorised expertise about munitions safety on:

  • IM design, production,
  • Munitions storage and transport,
  • Throughout the life cycle

This is key information which helps in decision making about munitions procurement (and helps to assess the costs and benefits storing and maintaining munitions throughout life cycle)

  • Feasibility studies
  • IM analyses
  • Theoretical evaluation
  • STANAG application proposal
  • Contractual definitions

Theme of the symposium:

International Progress in Insensitive Munitions and Energetic materials.

Co-organisation: IMEMG / MSIAC / NDIA.

Presentation

IM technology is being deployed into more weapon systems internationally. As military operations become more multinational, the importance of common international IM

standards and the understanding of technical solutions is critical. The 2010 IM and EM Technology Symposium, a major international gathering for the exchange of information on new techniques, technologies and innovations for energetic materials and for achieving IM.

Teamed up under specific sessions, presentations address the following issues:
